Here, in Holland, we celebrate Queensday every year, at April the 30th. I don't know sure if everybody of you, in Russia or the United States or another country, know it, but in Holland, almost everybody celebrate it.
Change
Next year, there's no Queensday anymore! It will change into Kingsday, because our queen is going to abdicate. Beatrix was 33 years queen of the Netherlands and she's already 75 years old, so I think she deserves it. On Queensday this year, prince Willem-Alexander will be King Willem-Alexander. Because of the date of his birthday, April 27th, Kingsday is next year on that day.
What are we going to do?
I don't already know what I'm going to do, but I can tell you what a lot of other people do at queensday.
The royal family
Every year, the royal family is going to visit 1 or 2 towns in Holland. They're going to walk through the streets and the people beside the street can shake their hand, give them a present or (if you lucky), you can make a photograph with one of them. There are a lot of activities for the family, such as danceperformances, games and 'koekhappen' (see photo).
Fair
The 'flea market' (vrijmarkt) is very populair. People can sell or buy old stuff. This is very populair, especially in Amsterdam.
Festival
There are a lot of festivals and concerts on Queensday. In the night before and after Queensday are also a lot of people who going out and party the whole night.
The queen and the princess
The queen always wears a hat. They are very funny sometimes, so I'll show you some photo's:
Our princess, Princess Máxima, wears always very modern and beautiful dresses and clothes:

Of course, you can also wear red-white-blue clothes or an blazer in orange. Or just one item in orange with jeans. Oh, and don't forget your nails and the accessoiries!
Have a nice Queensday!
For the girls from Holland, have a nice (and sunny) May-holiday!
xoxoxo Nathalie
